Composers Edward MacDowell, Amy Beach, and Aaron Copland, like their painting contemporaries, responded directly to nature in their similarly impressionistic compositions. MacDowell’s “Woodland Sketches” and “Old Garden Song Cycle,” Beach’s “Summer Wind,” and Copland’s “Poeme” and “Pastorale” will be interspersed with impressionistic pieces by French masters Debussy, Poulanc, and Faure.
