In 2005, Vivian Howard decided to return to her roots in North Carolina to open a farm-to-fork restaurant in the small town of Kinston. One year later, she and her husband opened Chef & the Farmer, serving local, seasonal, creative cuisine, with more than 70% of the restaurant’s foodstuffs sourced from within 60 miles. Now a destination for diners all over the country, the restaurant inspired the award-winning PBS series A Chef’s Life, now in its fourth season. Enjoy mimosas and light, local fare while Chef Howard reads from and signs copies of her highly anticipated first cookbook, Deep Run Roots: Stories & Recipes from My Corner of the South.
