ABOUT ABOUT

Day Trip for Members: Elliott Daingerfield in Blowing Rock
Wednesday, May 25, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Members only; $100 per person.

The American Impressionist Elliott Daingerfield was nationally celebrated for his scenes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Grand Canyon, where he painted Spirit of the Storm, in the Reynolda House collection. He was a longtime summer resident of Blowing Rock, the idyllic mountain town known as the “crown of the Blue Ridge.” This spring, the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum presents two exhibitions of Daingerfield’s family portraits, religious scenes, and poetic landscapes. We will continue our Daingerfield-inspired tour with lunch at Westglow, the artist’s Greek Revival summer home on forty-two hilly acres at the foot of Grandfather Mountain. Following lunch, we will visit a private collection.
