ABOUT ABOUT

Innovative designer Vivian Beer, whose Current is included in The Art of Seating:Two Hundred Years of American Design, will talk about her chairs, hand-made steel works that function as sculpture as well as seating. For her designs, Beer chooses “images and forms that embody beauty and power: flags, fenders, clouds, tides, tail feathers, rodeos, and corporate logos all come into the mix. I combine these with a sense of architecture and furniture design to create objects that are steel calligrapher's lines in three-dimensions.” Her work is in the collection of such museums as the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This event coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Piedmont Craftsmen Fair.

Reynolda House is grateful for the generous support of this event from Joseph P. Logan in honor of the Sawtooth School for Visual Art.
