ABOUT ABOUT

Spurred by the Western fascination with the Orient, various collectors and connoisseurs from the 1880s sought to purchase entire rooms from the Middle East and install them in their private residences or donate them to public museums. The lecture will explore the paths of two dozen such Damascene interiors—all of them containing unique masterpieces of refined home décor.

This is the second lecture in a two-part series presented by Anke Scharrahs, Ph.D. and conservator in Islamic art.

Presented by WFU History Department and the Office of the Provost
